Summary:
We invite you to participate in a meaningful initiative aimed at empowering women in rural India. Through a collaboration between the Pari Foundation (U.S.) and Snehahasthaalu (India), we are organizing a saree collection drive. Your donated sarees will be transformed by skilled women into beautiful dresses for orphan and semi-orphan young girls in KGBV schools. This initiative not only supports the training and employment of rural women but also brings joy and confidence to young girls in need.
In 2023, the Pari Foundation (U.S.) and Snehahasthaalu (India) effectively trained 110 rural women in the art of tailoring. Upon successful completion of the course, we furnished complimentary stitching machines to support their journey. Your generous donations of sarees will play a crucial role in enhancing the confidence of these women in their craft and highlighting their skills. The sarees will be repurposed to craft beautiful dresses for orphans and semi-orphans. Additionally, all monetary contributions collected in this initiative will be directly channeled to create income opportunities for these talented women.

Saree Donation Drive Frequently Asked Questions
-
Can I donate any saree?
Certainly, you are welcome to donate any saree. However, it's advised not to donate very expensive sarees. If the sarees cannot be repurposed to create dresses for the young girls, we will ensure that these sarees are donated to rural women. Your contribution, regardless of the type of saree, will be appreciated and put to good use either in crafting dresses or supporting rural women directly. Thank you for your generosity!
-
Can I donate Indian dresses?
Yes, you can absolutely donate Indian dresses. Your contributions of Indian dresses will be gladly accepted. These dresses will be either donated directly or, if needed, may undergo slight modifications to suit the preferences and needs of the girls who will receive them.
-
Can I donate non Indian dresses or jeans?
As of now, we are focusing on collecting Indian dresses and sarees for our initiative, and we are not accepting non-Indian dresses or jeans. Your understanding and support in contributing Indian clothing items will greatly benefit the cause. If you have any Indian dresses or sarees to donate, we would be grateful for your contribution. Thank you for your understanding.
-
Do I need to pay $10 for each saree I donate?
The suggested minimum donation of $10 is just a recommendation. This amount will be directed towards supporting the rural women who have undergone training in tailoring and received stitching machines. The goal is to boost their confidence in their tailoring skills. You are welcome to contribute any amount you are comfortable with, and your donation will go towards empowering these skilled women in rural areas.
